Abstract

Bu yazıda, alanyazına çok sayıda çalışmayı kazandıran dilbilimci Jonathan Charteris-Black’in politik söylemi, sözbilim, söylem ve metafor çerçevelerinde betimleyerek kaleme aldığı Analysing Political Speeches: Rhetoric, Discourse and Metaphor adlı kitabı incelenmektedir. Üç tematik bölüm altında yer alan on ünitede yazar adım adım politik bir konuşmayı diğer konuşma metinlerinden ayırt eden özellikleri, ikna gücü yüksek iletişimin özelliklerini ve metaforun subliminal bir araç olarak kullanımını kamuya mal olmuş isimlerin konuşma metinlerinin çözümlemesini yaparak ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Geleneksel sözbilimin ve eleştirel söylem çözümlemesinin temel prensiplerinden yola çıkıp son bölümde ileri sürdüğü Eleştirel Metafor Çözümlemesi modeli ile kuramsal ve yöntemsel bilgileri uygulamalarla harmanlamaktadır.
