B Vitaminleri ve Kemik Sağlığı

Abstract











Kemik sağlığına etki eden birçok faktör vardır. Beslenme, kemik gelişimi
ve sağlığının korunması için değiştirilebilir özellikteki en önemli faktördür. Kemik
sağlığının korunması ve devamlılığında, kalsiyum ve D vitamininin rolü
büyüktür. Bununla birlikte B vitaminlerinin homosistein düzeyleri üzerine etkili
olması nedeniyle, B vitaminleri (özellikle folik asit, B12 ve B6)
kemik sağlığı için önem arz eden mikro besin ögeleri olarak düşünülmektedir. Yüksek
homosistein düzeyleri, kemik mineral yoğunluğunun azalmasına ve kemik dokuda
mikro düzeyde değişimlere neden olarak kırık riskini artırmaktadır. Ancak
yükselen homosistein düzeyi kırık oluşumunu açıklamada tek başına yeterli
değildir. Kemik mineral yoğunluğu, kemik yapım ve yıkım sürecini içeren kemik
döngüsü ve kollajen çapraz bağlar da kırık oluşumu üzerine etkilidir. B grubu
vitaminler ve kemik sağlığına ilişkin çalışmalar sınırlıdır ve bulgular
çelişkilidir.
