There has been a growing interest in use and acquisition of Turkish in a bilingual setting, as attested through the papers that have been presented both at international conferences and in the literatüre on Turkish linguistics (see, the rather sketchy bibliography in the References). The topic has acclaimed such interest for a variety of reasons, ali of which are of immediate concem to the linguistic circle and its related fıelds of the social and humanistic sciences. This brief survey will try to present the contemporary trends in these areas through an examination of the papers and abstracts that have been presented at International Conferences on Turkish Linguistics over the years 1986 and 1994.
