The Oriental languages and cultures have long been on the research agenda of Western scholars and many works have been done on both near eastern and far eastern civilizations in order to define the linguistic and cultural landscape in these non-western regions of the world. This work reviews one of the recent contributions on the issue, Turcologica Upsaliensia: an illustrated collection of essays edited by Éva Á. Csató, Gunilla Gren-Eklund, Lars Johanson and Birsel Karakoç.
