Abstract
Çevirmenlik, tıpkı tıp ve mühendislik gibi kökenleri antik çağlara dayanan ve yeryüzünde medeniyetin oluştuğu ilk andan itibaren ifa edilen en eski mesleklerden biridir. Gerek yazılı çevirmenlik, gerekse de sözlü çevirmenlik kendi alanlarında uzmanlık gerektiren karmaşık alanlar itibarıyla ele alınmış, kendi gereksinimlerinin gerektirdiği düzlemde kuramsal ve uygulama bağlamlarında evrilmiştir. Bu kapsamda günümüzde çeviribilimin ve çevirmenliğin herkesçe bilinip uzmanlığa değer bir alan olarak görülmesi, ilk duyulduğu andan itibaren gerçekleştirilen değerli akademik çalışmalara teşmil edilebilmektedir. Bu değerli akademik çalışmaların en bilinir örneklerinden biri olarak Aymil Doğan tarafından kaleme alınan Sözlü Çeviri Çalışmaları ve Uygulamaları (2000) örnek gösterilebilir.

Abstract
Just like medicine and engineering, translation appears to be one of the oldest professions that has its origins in ancient times and has been practiced since the first moment of civilization. Both translation and interpreting have been handled in terms of complex fields that require expertise in their own fields, and have evolved in theoretical and practical contexts at the level required by their own needs. In this context, the fact that translation studies and translation are seen by everyone as a field worthy of expertise can be attributed to a set of valuable academic studies that have been carried out since the first time it was heard. Interpreting Studies and Practices (2000), written by Aymil Doğan, can be cited as one of the most well-known examples of these valuable academic studies.
